I have been an early childhood educator since 2006 working with ages 1-6yrs. I moved to Bend from the central valley of California in 2005 where I attended West Hills College and studied Art and Early Childhood Education. My passion is art and use every opportunity I have to break out the supplies, rather its paint, markers & pens or shaving cream, food, earth, plants or anything else my imagination can come up with. I returned to the Village Preschool in 2012, after a brief 2 year hiatus in which I continued my education, training and experience in the ECE field, took care full time of my then toddler son Damian, and gained new knowledge of the business of running a successful preschool program. I am very excided to use all of my knowledge and experience to guide myself through the journey of being director and new owner of the Village preschool.
Both myself and my family have a deep love for nature and our beautiful central Oregon community. Every chance we get we are out exploring through hiking, biking, kayaking, camping, attending various festivals and performances, as well as volunteering to help keep our community beautiful. As part of my love for our community I created a special "Random acts of Kindness" focus for our school that I incorporates into our monthly curriculums. The children at the school participate and share their ideas on how to give back and help others. I am a very caring, creative and out going person and feel that it shines though in the work I do and into our school everyday.
After I graduated from CSU, Sacramento in 2006, I embarked on my professional career as a high school history/economics teacher. I quickly found out I was not cut out to teach high school and changed my focus to early childhood education. In 2009, I went back to school to become a preschool teacher and began my early childhood education career as an infant teacher. Since then, I have worked with children ages six weeks to six years. I love working with young children of all ages and watching them reach each developmental milestone. I am so excited to be working here at the Village Preschool because now I get to be a teacher for mixed ages and watch as our students learn from us and each other.
About me personally, I am one of five kids and the rest of my family lives in the Sacramento area in California. My husband and I, along with our daughter, Lucy, moved to Bend in April of 2017 after living in Canada for three years. Prior to that, we lived in Belmont and Novato, California. We love the outdoors, camping, rafting, hiking exploring and going on adventures. I also love to crochet and that’s what you can find me doing in my free time when I’m not baking.
